At Oyster Bay Nursery School, we aim to:

  • provide high quality care and education for children below statutory school age;
  • work in partnership with parents to help children to learn and develop;
  • add to the life and well-being of the local community; and
  • offer children and their parents a service that promotes equality and values diversity

Parents are regarded as members of our setting who have full participatory rights. These include a right to be:

  • valued and respected;
  • kept informed;
  • consulted;
  • involved; and
  • included at all levels.

We aim to make Oyster Bay Nursery a safe and stimulating environment for the children by ensuring that each child:

  • is in a safe and stimulating environment;
  • is given generous care and attention, because of our ratio of qualified staff to children;
  • has the chance to join with other children and adults to live, play, work and learn together;
  • is helped to take forward her/his learning and development by being helped to build on what she/he already knows and can do;
  • has a personal key person who makes sure each child makes satisfying progress;
  • is in a setting that sees parents as partners in helping each child to learn and develop;
  • Is in a setting in which parents help to shape the service it offers
The nursery enjoys fantastic facilities that include a large playing field that is used for nature walks and teddy bears picnics, a large nursery garden, a large hall for gym, dance and circle games and a sensory garden.
The close proximity to Joy Lane Children’s Centre ensures regular liaison and allows anyone who may be involved in our Nursery Community easy access to the additional services and support they may offer.

The nursery children enjoy eating their lunch with the school children in the reception classes, and using other school facilities. We are also able to participate in other joint activities such as the Christmas Nativity, school productions and community events.
Our nursery school is part of the Foundation Stage, and as such has close links with the reception classes ensuring smooth transition for nursery to reception.

Any enquiries regarding the Nursery should in the first instance be made through the School office.

We are very proud of our Nursery and its surrounding environment and are keen to develop this section of the website to promote our setting. We would welcome any feedback, in order to improve the service that we can offer to our children, parents and carers and our community.

We look forward to working together and would like to thank those who support us to provide an outstanding experience for you and your children.
